Golden Globes TV nominations slugfest: So many first-timers, but can ‘Maisel’ pull off a rare repeat win? [Watch]
Did we all underestimate just how much the Golden Globes prefer shiny new shows? “I knew they liked new things; I just didn’t realize how much they’d like new things, especially on the drama side,” Paul Sheehan quipped in our Golden Globes TV nominations slugfest with editors Tom O’Neil, Chris Beachum, Daniel Montgomery, Marcus James Dixon, Susan Wloszczyna and myself (watch above).

The Best Drama Series lineup features five shows all on their first nominations, four of which are new shows: “The Americans,” “Bodyguard,” “Homecoming,” “Killing Eve” and “Pose.” “The Americans” concluded its six-season run in May, but it had never received a series nomination at the Globes before. “I was debating dropping ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ because Season 2 was so divisive, but that was my only returning nominee, and I was like, ‘They’re not going to do all first-timers, will they?'” I said. “And then they did.
